Mughal Patna and the Iranian travellers
Concept
Mughal Patna and the Iranian travellers
Mughal Patna was a mint town, a customs town and a town of tombs. In 1580 Akbar established a mint there. The Malasalami mohalla collected duty on commercial goods. At Dhavalpura stand Sher Shah's mosque and the tomb of Sadat Khan's father. The printed question says all three statements are correct, so the key is the option that gathers them.
Aurangzeb's grandson Shahzada Azim spent one crore rupees rebuilding Patna and spoke of it as a second Delhi. The other cities in that question, Agra, Allahabad and Kanpur, are not the printed answer.
Three Iranian travellers fix the order. Abdul Latif came about 1600 and was from Iran. Mohammad Sadiq came in 1619-20, and Subh-e-Sadiq is his travelogue, not Mulla Bahbahani's. Bahbahani, a religious preceptor, came in the nineteenth century. His own travelogue in the printed key is Miratul Ahwal. Mohsin Fani, a contemporary of Jahangir, wrote Dabistan-e-Mazahib in Patna. The printed note says that book was the first to call Akbar's Din-e-Ilahi a new religion.
