- The first Speaker was Ramdayalu Singh (23 Jul 1937 - 11 Nov 1944).
- Bindhyeshwari Prasad Verma had the longest tenure (1946-62).
- Mohammad Hidayatullah Khan (1989-90) and Ghulam Sarwar (1990-95) followed Shiv Chandra Jha.
- Uday Narayan Choudhary served two terms (2005-2015). Later Speakers: Vijay Kumar Chaudhary (2015-20), Vijay Kumar Sinha (2020-22), Awadh Bihari Choudhary (2022-24).
- Awadh Bihari Choudhary was removed by a no-confidence motion on 12 February 2024; Nand Kishore Yadav (BJP) was elected unopposed on 15 February 2024.
- Current Speaker (Oct 2026): Dr Prem Kumar (BJP, Gaya Town), elected unanimously on 2 December 2025 as Speaker of the 18th Vidhan Sabha.
