Saat Nishchay 2: Har Khet ko Pani

In the Saat Nischay-2, towards a self-reliant Bihar, the State Government is promising to provide irrigation water to every field in the state. For this, a total of 534 divisional joint technical survey teams of officials of Minor Water Resources Department, Agriculture Department, Energy Department, and Panchayati Raj Department have been formed, with the Water Resources Department as the nodal agency.
In the first phase, it was decided to survey the existing Jamabandi-wise plots to estimate the number of irrigation systems, presently functional. A framework was outlined for these purposes:
  • Joint Technical Survey: Under the 'Har Khet ko Pani' programme, joint technical survey work is going on by the Departments of Water Resources, Minor Water Resources, Energy, Agriculture, and Panchayati Raj to identify the unirrigated areas and potential water bodies and irrigation schemes to develop irrigation systems.

Climate Resilient Agricultural Programme

Globally, the effects of climate change are being recognised across all sectors, and more specifically, on agricultural sector.
Keeping this in mind, the State Government has started a pilot scheme of Climate Resilient Agriculture in eight districts of Bihar such as Nalanda, Nawada, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Khagaria and Madhubani during 2019-20. The existing cropping systems have been substituted with more climate resilient cropping systems including changes in selection of crop and crop varieties, sowing methods, and management of pests, nutrients, water, and crop residue. Large scale demonstrations were held in the identified villages by the scientists of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Borlaug Institute for South Asia, Pusa and ICAR, eastern region, Patna.
