Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM)
The National Water Policy envisages to transfer the management of all completed canal systems to the beneficiary societies in a phased manner, under the Participatory Irrigation Management Programme initiated in Bihar in 1997. There are 81 registered societies in the state, which have already given their consent to manage irrigation systems.
