Horticulture Development
National Horticulture Mission is implemented in 23 districts and Chief Minister's Horticulture Mission in other 15 districts. National Bamboo Mission, National Mission on Medicinal Plants, and Vegetable Initiative programme are implemented. Bihar Horticulture Development Society and District Level Horticulture Committees execute schemes, with ATMA managing clusters. Udyan Mahotsava was initiated in 2011.- Organic produce is marketed with the 'Jaivik' brand.
- ICAR set up National Research Centre for Litchi at Mushari (Muzaffarpur) and National Research Centre for Makhana at Darbhanga.
- Rapid development of one major crop in 35 districts (excluding Araria, Supaul, Madhepura) is underway. Integrated Pack House is underway in Hajipur.
- Two Centres of Excellence with Israel operate at Desari, Vaishali (fruits) and Chandi, Nalanda (vegetables). BAGRI scheme links fruit-vegetable groups with markets and credit. Tissue culture labs are set up.
Farm Mechanization
Farm mechanization is integral to Agriculture Road Map III. Subsidies are provided for tractors, sprayers, power tillers, winnowing machines, power weeders, and power threshers, focusing on zero tillage machines for small and marginal farmers.Extension Services
